Our History
Sauk Prairie Small Animal Hospital was first established by Dr. Dale Kelley in 1951. Dr. Joseph Kelley took over the practice in 1992 and moved to our current location two years later. In September 2004, Shamrock Dog Park was opened, an off-leash, fenced-in park just for dogs. This park provides a safe, secure place where dogs can be dogs. In 2007, Shamrock Pet Resort, a boarding, training, grooming, and dog daycare facility was added to the clinic. Along with the resort addition, the hospital was remodeled in 2007, making room for a special procedures suite, critical care facilities, and a new radiology suite with a digital x-ray machine.
In 2018, Sauk Prairie Small Animal Hospital and Shamrock Pet Resort were sold to Blue River Pet Care due to Dr. Joe’s slow declining heath from ALS. Dr. Joe and Jodi Kelley took great pride in finding the best company that would not change the high standard of care provided at SPSAH and would provide the best opportunities for their employees. Dr. Joe and Jodi were present in the clinic after the sale until 2020 when COVID hit the world. Sadly, in November 2020, Dr Joe’s ALS took him over the rainbow bridge.
Sauk Prairie Small Animal Hospital, Shamrock Pet Resort, and Shamrock Dog Park combine to offer you and your pets the area’s premier pet care facility.
